Park Station houses the largest central railway station in South Africa and is conveniently located between Braamfontein and the Johannesburg Central Business District (CBD). 

The Station serves as a major transportation hub within the City of Johannesburg and the Gauteng Province as all the main arterial routes converge at Park Station.

Park Station is home to the city’s many trains, long distance bus services, Rea Vaya and the Gautrain.

Situated in the heart of Johannesburg, Park Station is surrounded by various historical and cultural landmarks, such as Constitution Hill, Joburg Theatre and the Johannesburg Art Gallery.

Over the last three decades the station has undergone major redevelopments to ensure it remains commercially viable.


Prasa Cres, a division of the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (Prasa), is mandated to manage Prasa’s property portfolio through:

  • Optimisation
  • Commercialisation  
  • Facilities Management
  • National Station Improvement Programme
  • National Station Upgrade Programme; and
  • As the custodian of Prasa’s Corporate Real Estate, is responsible for the refurbishment of its own campuses.


Prasa has embarked on a R650 million infrastructure and retail upgrade programme spanning over the next three years. The objective of the extensive upgrade programme forms part of Prasa’s drive to modernize stations countrywide.
